           we assist over 2,500

           individuals & families

                       every year!

From the Executive Director and Board Chair

This past March, Campbell River Family Services Society quietly marked its  35^th anniversary of service to the community of Campbell River.  We didn't have a big celebration to mark this very significant milestone, but this annual report is a chance to reflect back on those years and recognize the contributions that this organization has made to the community and the difference it has made in the lives of the thousands of people it has served over those years.

to say that change has been a constant over the past 35 years would be an understatement!   But regardless of the changes (and there have been many) what makes CRFSS "different from the rest" is the dedication and commitment that staff and board have  always maintained to clients, funders and the community.  The longevity of both staff and board in this organization is testament to the fact that being a part of this agency is something that people are proud of.

Although 2011-2012 proved to be a challenging year for us fiscally, we also had many achievements to be proud of. New services started in the past year include the Family Support Program as well as some new groups designed to meet the needs of the children and families we serve.  Maggie, the therapy dog is the newest staff member and definitely wins the "cutest" and "most energetic" award in this baby boomer heavy agency!  

This wouldn't be an annual report without a sobering thought about the current economic climate in which we are operating.  The social services sector will no doubt continue to face constraints and challenges in the coming years. As has been the case for the past 35 years, CRFSS will respond to these challenges by adapting and ensuring that the high standards of service that both our clients and funders have come to expect of us are not compromised. 

But this also wouldn't be an annual report without thanking and recognizing those whose efforts and hard work result in the achievement of organizational excellence.  Janis,  Linda and Gloria... your service to CRFSS is recognized here this evening, but it is what you do every day that is appreciated and that we thank you for.  We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all current and past staff, board members and volunteers for their contributions to this organization. Working together, we are making a difference.
